Boko Haram fighters from Nigeria crossed the border into northern Cameroon on Sunday and took away 80 people, most of them children, according to reports.

Insurgents from Nigeria arrived at the villages of Mabass and Makxy in northern Cameroon in the early hours of Sunday, according to CNN.

During the raid, the militants kidnapped as many as 80 villagers, most of them children aged under 15. Several villagers attempted to defend the village but were killed by the insurgents.

A Cameroonian government spokesman confirmed the attack and said the Boko Haram fighters also torched at least 80 homes.

Apart from Cameroon, the Islamic extremist group, which received global attention for kidnapping about 200 schoolgirls from northeastern Nigeria, has also attacked Niger.

Meanwhile, neighbouring Chad has deployed troops to Cameroon to try and stem Boko Haram’s attacks.

The landlocked country depends on Cameroon for imports through the port of Douala. It also transports crude oil through a pipeline that connects to a floating facility off southern Cameroon.

Hundreds of people joined an anti-Boko Haram rally in the Chad capital Saturday, showing support for the government’s decision to send troops to Cameroon.

  1. Did you get that oil pipeline connection there? Yeah, …i knew you did. Ever wonder why these groups like ISIS and boko haram just spring up out of nowhere driving US special forces toyota trucks not available for sale to the public in the countries the US just HAPPENS to want to invade next? What are the odds of THAT huh? 😀

If you farted oil, Obama would claim ISIS was in your pants and invade.

  2. I know this might sound cruel, but maybe we should just stop bargaining with them for hostages. They get hostages and that is how they have power, by being able to bargain hostages away to get some of their own freed from Guantanamo or possibly something else. Maybe if this gets out of hand, we need to just put up a "all hostages are lost" policy, not bargaining for hostages, either trying to rescue them, but definitely not negotiating for them. Then they will see that they can't just take hostages in the hopes for bargaining for their goals and then they will lose their power and stop doing that.

  3. another media manipulation boko haram kidnap people in cameroun of course but NATOmedia didnt comfirm AFTER that those people some of them was release by cameroon army special forces B.I.R….
