Make Your Own: KFC Coleslaw

Although this is a copycat recipe, it is the best homemade coleslaw! In fact, it is the only kind of coleslaw I will eat! Tastes exactly like the real deal!

This is a Todd Wilbur recipe from one of his ‘Top Secret Recipes’ books. One of the few recipes of his that actually tastes like the real thing.

What you’ll need:
1 medium head of cabbage
1 carrot
2 Tbsp minced fresh onion
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup buttermilk
2-1/2 Tbsp lemon juice
1-1/2 Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 tsp black pepper

In a food processor or by hand, finely chop cabbage and carrot. Combine together in a large bowl. Set aside.
Combine rest of ingredients in a separate bowl until well mixed. Pour over cabbage and carrot mixture. Mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least overnight to let flavors meld and come together. Serve cold at your next barbeque! Enjoy!

  1. Add 1/4 cup pickle juice and 1 teaspoon of ketchup and 1 teaspoon of mustard you will have Cock of The Walk coleslaw. Oh no onion though. Cock of The Walk is really good chicken and catfish resturaunt in Nashville.

  3. WE have too PUSH dislike, in order for us too continue other wise , we are bombarded with ones we do not use, we have too have the freedom too chose, I like the blog an use them

  4. Great recipe, just like what I have made for 50 years as taught as a teen by my grandmother. Only difference is I do not put onion in it as it upsets my tummy and no lemon juice as I use cider apple vinegar. Thanks for teaching making something yourself by SCRATCH.

  5. This recipe is spot-on, nearly identical. Hats of to you my friend!
    If you are missing buttermilk, just add the same amount of milk with a splash of viniger that you mixed before adding
