In November 2018, Cameroonian journalist Mimi Mefo was arrested after reporting on the death of an American missionary in the Anglophone regions of the country, where secessionist groups have clashed with government forces. She was released following pressure from local groups and international organizations, including CPJ.

No journalist should face imprisonment for doing their work. Cameroon must respect press freedom.
