Nigeria lost over one million barrels of crude oil per day estimated to be about N8.7 billion [$58m] as at May 2009 to activities of Niger Delta militants. However, peace was restored to the region following a 2009 Presidential Amnesty Offer by the then President late Umaru Yar’Adua. Nine years after, the programme is witnessing controversies and accusations by agitators of alleged corruption and neglect.
