“Witnesses and the rights group Amnesty International said several people were killed and wounded when soldiers opened fire.

The state governor said about 25 people had been wounded but only one person had died.

An indefinite 24-hour curfew has been imposed on Lagos and other regions.

Protests over a now-disbanded police unit – the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (Sars) – have been taking place for two weeks, with demonstrators using the social media hashtag #EndSars to rally crowds.

As tensions continued to rise on Wednesday, police in different districts of Lagos fired shots in the air to disperse people defying the curfew, the BBC’s Nduka Orjinmo reports from the capital, Abuja.”

The Struggle Continues

  1. Thumbs up and an additional comment to beat the algorithm. Thanks for the report! 👍
And thanks to all the no-life right wingers, spending all their free time in the comment section of left leaning news sources; you're helping the cause!
And a special thanks to the gullible cowards that love to respond to this and run away like terrified children. Right wingers are so pathetic. 🤣😂🤣

  2. My husband wanted to send me some money from Nigeria to Austria. Police saw him going and took his phone. Then they saw my picture on his phone… I'm a Austrian white woman. They put him in jail untill he gave them all his money. And they are also taking passports of Nigerian people who live abroad when they conduct routine car stops.

  3. So is Cenk mad that Trump hasn't applauded Nigeria?? For once in his life, Trump has kept his mouth shut, and still this somehow gets tied to Trump being the problem. I voted Biden this time, and I get that TYT is anti-Trump, but do they even consider the possibility that perhaps every single problem on the planet may not exist due to Trump? This is all Nigeria's problem, and has nothing to do with anyone other than Nigeria.

  4. Thank you Ana and TYT for bringing awareness to the situation in Nigeria. Am a Nigerian Canadian based in Toronto, having to watch my people being slaughtered by the same authority that's been sworn in to protect them is very heart wrenching. Nigeria is a great country CURSED with bad leaders, God help us.

  5. No Cenk, the US is not worse than Nigeria. What is happening in Nigeria has not been made legitimate as you argue it has in America, but legal or illegal, no one will do a thing about it. The corruption in Nigeria is horrendous. The killings will be treated as trivial and more so than they would in the US. I lived there for 6 years.

  6. Watch the same one that attack BLM and Antifa for protesting, defend and support the Nigerian protesters and condemn Nigeria police force and the government. Who knows, they would probably defund the police over there by simply putting sanctions on the country.

  7. Nothing ill meant against the Nigerian people when I say this, fyi. The fact that we, the richest country in the history of the Earth – The US of A, have literally the same types of police problems as a rather poor country that certainly considered by many in the US to be a third-world country based various rankings…it really deals another blow to the right-wing (and honestly many on the center-left) money-first ideology. You can all the money in the world, but if you as a country do not prioritize human lives and well-being above control, money, and greed…well then you are going to have problems.

The US IS a third-world country in my books. And some of the disgusting aspects of our culture have seeped into my veins, to my dismay. I watched a NowThis piece on 10 people from other countries finding out about how we are handling the coronavirus and how the healthcare industry works here. To me, it was everyday stuff…to those people…they started crying at the inhumanity. I saw the disgust and disbelief in their eyes when they learned what America is all about. And that sickens me to my core that we are severely on the wrong side of history and honestly worse-off than many places where certain other areas like personal freedoms are infringed upon. As an immigrant, it hurts to know that my family made a mistake coming to America, that much is clear and my parents agree wholeheartedly.

  8. We are do distracted by all the weird chaos here in our own country, that it’s like “oh yeah, there are people outside of our country that are dealing with similar things.” Thank you. I’ve been following some of this on Democracy Now. I watch you more, so thank you for covering this too. Word needs to get out on all the uprising against authoritarians throughout the World 🌍.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

  9. I was wondering why the hell TYT was bringing up Nigeria and when Ana drew a comparison with the US police thats when I understood the reason for this video, more Anti-Cop propaganda hahaha, because the US police is known for shooting crowds with live ammunitions Ana? Rofl you libtards are a bunch of losers, you talk about wanting the police abolished and when you succeed (where crimes predictably rise as a result like with the CHAZ) you ignore the consequences of it and stop talking about it and silence anybody who brings it up, its really scary how stupid you leftists are, you seek destruction and when you achieve it your pretend its someone else's fault..

  10. This is horrific! I stand with the people of Nigeria. There protests are justified ours are not.
See this? THIS IS POLCE BRUTALLY! Our officers mostly only use lethal when it’s called for. Now aren’t you glad you live in a country where our officers only use rubber rounds, bean bags, and tear gas? I sure as hell am.

Cenk and the rest of tyt it’s disgusting that you claim the the U.S is worse than this it’s sickening. And you have proved to me that you do not love this country and are not American you may be citizens but you are not American.

On a different note “sars” is a verry unfortunate acronym but fitting

TYT you do not have the right to take down/edit my comments because there factual and you don’t like it. I will post them back up again and agin. You will not silence me on your channel or anywhere.
