The Struggle Continues

  1. In Pakistan we planted 1 Bn trees in one province in last 5 years. We will plant 10 Bn more trees in next 5 years in the whole country. This will be a larger new forest than rest of the entire world!

  2. Acacia good for Africa. Its resin is good. Needs less water & is indigenous. We had aproblem with wild mulbery & eucliptus from australia since sixties. Ppl are encouraged to plant fruit trees. Grape vines & olives are also aggressively being cultivated. But these schemes are apart from the 10 billion trees project. This country wll b lot more greener even!

  3. Am I the only person here who thinks this video feels "acted" or fake? The "village leader" says, "We have 200 women working on it now." I see about 20 women at the most, and they look like they are walking along putting handfuls of dry dirt on… dry dirt. And in another scene, sprinkling dirt on… dirt. What, exactly, is the work they do? That is never explained well. The dancing, the singing — I get it, all part of life there, but it still feels as though they are performing for the camera. I see the trees, okay, and (I'm guessing) the irrigation ditches (??), but otherwise, nothing about this three-minute "film" feels like it's telling a totally truthful story. There is this story on the idea. http://theconversation.com/africas-got-plans-for-a-great-green-wall-why-the-idea-needs-a-rethink-78627

  4. Those low IQ Africans should stop having so many damn children, when they can't even feed them! Why are most Africans so stupid and ignorant? Why would you have kids when you live in extreme poverty?

  5. Offensive. I see a tendency in the BBC to orient production towards, well, uneducated junkies. How can the fight against desertification be abased to a videoclip? Choose the music as if you were not planning a manipulative campaign. At least the video still allows use even while removing the audio, through reading the captions.

  6. Lol stupid africans are the ones who created the Sahara in the first place, they cut down all of the trees and burned off the undergrowth… which led to desertification and the slow growth of the sahara
